Our popular Camphill Café is run by our staff, volunteers and residents, we serve a delicious vegetarian menu, along with teas coffees and freshly baked cakes. Our food is freshly prepared on site with either seasonal produce grown in our Camphill gardens or with ethically sourced ingredients. Our aim is to create a peaceful atmosphere accompanied by good food and a first class friendly service.
To book a table or for more information, you can contact the Camphill Café directly on: 01908 308738.
Run by our café manager, workshop leader and supported by our team of volunteer co-workers, this workshop provides the opportunity to work both behind the scenes in the kitchen or front of house.
All meals are freshly prepared within our kitchen and our residents can work alongside our chef and kitchen staff to learn skills in food preparation.
Everyone who comes to work in our café receives training in food preparation, food safety and customer care from our registered in house trainer. We tailor this training to suit individual needs and abilities and make it more accessible by delivering information over time in bite size chunks which can then be applied practically.
Those working front of house are guided and supported in how to meet and greet our customers, show them to their tables, take orders and help with any enquiries. This can help them to develop confidence and communication skills and provide a great experience of working directly with the public.
As well as serving and helping our customers, those at the front of house also contribute to keeping the café clean and tidy. The processes for clearing and tidying are broken down into manageable steps so that everyone can contribute to keeping the café clear, clean and safe.
Support and development is ongoing and everyone who attends this workshop is encouraged to develop their role and take on different aspects of the café work. This may include trying out writing out the specials board or learning to use the cash register. Every step, every achievement is recorded into each individual’s learning record and is shared with the group were appropriate.
