Our CEO describes himself as a chap ‘not known for his sentimentality’, although we don’t quite agree! The following story is one he heard many years ago when working in mental health. He recently referred to it when discussing how hard someone found it to be consistently kind to others. That feeling of weariness or compassion fatigue when people perhaps don’t change despite repeated sustained attempts to help. A feeling of ‘running out of kindness’, is how he described it. You may have heard the story before or a different version. Food for thought, none-the-less!
A lot of fun in the sun was had by our community this Easter Bank Holiday weekend!
On Tuesday 12th March, our Shop and Café will be closed to the public for our annual Land Day/Spring Clean-Up Day. This is an opportunity for us to work together to clean our workshops and houses. Any unwanted items will be upcycled or offered to other charities. In the afternoon we will all share lunch together before getting to work on projects to tidy our land.
They did it! Congratulations to Miguel and his cycle team, the Stellar Stars, for cycling over 500 miles in just 3 days, the 2018 Extra Mile Auvergne Cycle Challenge. They need your help in hitting their £4k target to help purchase a rickshaw electric assisted bike so that we and the wider community can cycle again! They are looking for any support, so please give generously via Virgin Money Giving. For more information on the challenge check out Extra-Mile. Thank you!
